Chester Town Hall Wedding – Lorraine and Shandy

Lorraine and Shandy wanted a candid documentary photographer to shoot their Chester Town Hall Wedding in February this year. Before we started I was unsure what the weather was going to be like. This was in light of the forecast and the showers that we’d had early in the morning. In spite of this, the weather which had been pretty dismal early on  quickly improved in time for Lorraine & Shandy’s lovely wedding ceremony at the stunning Chester Town Hall. Read more ›

Grosvenor Pulford Wedding | Cally & Cal

Wedding at St Mary’s and the Grosvenor Pulford

Firstly i’ve got to say it’s great when I get to shoot local locally and a Grosvenor Pulford Wedding just happens to be right on my doorstep. I photograph weddings throughout the UK.  I was super happy when Cally and Cal asked me to shoot their big day. The gods smiled upon us for Cally and Cal’s wedding. As a result the day was filled with sunshine and laughter, it was a cracking day. Also all the guests were able to spend the afternoon outside during the drinks reception and they had a fantastic time in the sun. Both Cally and Cal’s friends and family traveled to St Mary’s church in Chester from far and wide from both ends of the the UK.

Perfect first dance ~ Mitton Hall Wedding

North-Wales-wedding-photographer (1 of 1)-6

What a perfect and spontaneous moment this was at a Mitton Hall wedding. A last second decision from the bride and groom, who changed their minds, deciding to have their first dance on the terrace outside instead of the dance floor. Great decision and a lovely moment…

It’s my job as a reportage wedding photographer to be ready for these impromptu moments and make sure I photograph them without any interaction allowing things to happen naturally.

One brief moment

North-Wales-wedding-photographer (13 of 66)

There are lots of people and lots of moments happening all around at weddings. I like them to happen spontaneously without any prompt or influence from myself, the photographer. For this to happen people need to be truly unaware of the photographers presence. This was one of them moments, for me it’s a lovely mother and daughter moment and something I know the bride will cherish.

I quite often see children being told to look at cameras by photographers and this usually has them looking at the camera with dread for the rest of the day.  For this image to happen candidly I had completely refrain from any prompting and react quickly to ensure I got the image and light I wanted.

The joy in this image

I wanted to post one of my favorite photographs from my 2017 weddings. I took this photograph following Cally and Cal’s wedding ceremony at St Mary’s Chester just before they headed to their wedding reception at the Grosvenor Pulford in North Wales.

I really love the honest joy in the image and for me this is one of the main reasons why I choose to candidly photograph weddings. Looking back and reflecting on these beautiful moments of emotion.

Liz & Steven’s Statham Lodge Wedding

Statham Lodge Wedding - Afternoon reception

Statham Lodge Wedding

Liz and Steve particularly wanted a candid wedding photographer to document their Statham Lodge wedding.  Since I am a reportage photographer who shoots candidly I was hopeful I could fit their bill. I loved every moment of Liz and Steve’s wedding. In fact Liz and Steve and their fabulous family and friends were a superb bunch.
